Day 1 Hanoi - Cuc Phuong National Park (L, D)

Depart Hanoi at 8 am; we travel along Highway #1, our vehicle drops us off at the park, where we trek to a huge thousand year old tree. After lunch is some free time for strolling around under cool trees’ shades. Then we embrace our bikes to ride long curves and bends of roads winding through the jungle. Ending at entrance gate, we spend the night staying in a nearby bungalow.

Day 2 Cuc Phuong National Park - Tam Coc (35 km cycling distance) (B, L, D)

Morning sunrise with sounds of the jungle, we wake up to have breakfast then check out of our hotel. We continue our biking journey through villages and beautiful pineapple plantations. Arriving Tam Coc Wharf around lunch time, we first check in our hotel. After lunch, we get on cute little boats to have 2 hours of rowing along the river and through three tunnel caves. There is still time in the early afternoon to bike through villages, crossing rice paddy fields to see the ancient capital of Hoa Lu. Back to the hotel, we relax and enjoy ourselves while drinking cold local beer by the river; overnight stay in hotel by the river as well. Day 3 Tam Coc - Ha Long Bay (B, L, D)

Depart Tam Coc about 8 am; we travel along National Road #10 heading northeast, through lush green fields of the Red River Delta. Arriving in Ha Long city around lunch time, we transfer to Tourist wharf and be welcomed by the junk cruise’s staff. After check in on board, the boat cruises through Ha Long Bay, passing by some of the most scenic locations including Yen Ngua, Con Coc Mountains, as well as a floating fishing village. Lunch will be served in the junk cruise’s restaurant. Weather permitting, we will visit Sung Sot cave (Surprising cave) and enjoy kayaking to explore the lagoon and Luon Grotto; over night stay on junk cruise.

Day 4 Ha Long Bay - Dong Trieu village (home stay in village) (B, L, D)

Greet the day with morning exercise on the roof top or a fresh swim, both with an opportunity to view sunrise over the bay. After breakfast, we visit a beautiful limestone grotto. Then back to our boat for a final glimpse of the Ha Long Bay as we cruise back to the dock. Only about an hour ride to the village of Dong Trieu. First, we exchange greetings and have green tea with our host family. Then we get on our bikes to enjoy riding around neighboring villages, cycling through this peaceful area of country lanes and rice fields, chatting with local people. This evening, we will be guests of a local family.

Day 5 Dong Trieu - Hanoi (B, L)

After breakfast, we bid farewell to our host and villagers as we head back to Hanoi. On the way, we stop to visit traditional handicrafts villages of Phu Lang (pottery) and Dong Ky (wood carving). Our tour ends at the hotel foyer around 4 pm; overnight in Hanoi.

Day 1 Hanoi - Historical site (L)

Leaving our hotel by bicycle, we will ride through the Old Quarter and the old French Quarter on the way to the Ho Chi Minh Museum and Mausoleum. You can't visit Vietnam without getting to know the great leader of the Vietnam revolution! Then we continue riding through residential and market areas, have lunch in a local restaurant, and continue into the 'green belt' buffer zone. We will explore the mills and backstreets of a traditional silk weaving village, stopping to see the skilful weavers working hard in their traditional calling. By contrast, we will return to our hotel through a new development with its uniquely Hanoi blend of architectural styles.

Notes:

Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum opening time: Open from Tuesday to Thursday and weekends from 8 am to 11pm. Closed on Mondays and Fridays. The mausoleum is closed for two months of the year, usually October and November, when Ho Chi Minh’s body is maintenance

Day 2 Hanoi - Local people with daily life (L, D)

We'll take another ride through the maze of back alleys. Stop and enjoy a coffee (or whatever you prefer) with Hanoi townsfolk. Beware! They will want to practice their English on you. Then we'll explore the big market of Cho Mo. It is far out of the city centre and not commonly visited by tourists. Have "bun cha", the specialty of Hanoi for lunch. In the afternoon we will visit Ngu Xa Temple for an insight into the Vietnamese spiritual life. In the evening, you will be treated to a Vietnamese meal in a private home.

Day 1 Arrival day (D)

You be welcomed upon arrival at the airport by our tour guide and driver. Check into hotel: City tour (optional). If your plane lands in the morning, you can enjoy visiting some cultural and historical sites around the city, such as Ngoc Son Temple (Jade Mountain Temple), Temple of Literature and Water Puppet Show or cyclo ride around the Old Quarter. Welcome dinner in fine Vietnamese cuisine restaurant.
Overnight in hotel.

 Day 2 Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Hanoi - Dong Trieu village (B, L, D)

Depart hotel at 8am. Before leaving Hanoi we will visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum complex, including mausoleum, president palace, former home of HCM, and the One Pillar Pagoda. Afterwards we will head northeast on along Highway One, through the lush region of the Red River Delta. After two hours bus ride, we arrive at Dong Trieu village. There we will be hosted by local people with lunch and dinner, staying overnight in their comfortable home. After lunch and a short rest, we will get on our bikes to enjoy peddling slowly from village to village, across rice paddies and along the river and back to Dong Trieu. There will plenty of time for chatting with locals, and seeing how the rice is being cultivated.

Day 3 Cycling from Dong Trieu to Hai Phong (B, L, D)

After fare well our hosts, we continue cycling along a sealed road towards Hai Phong. We use the ferry at Ben Trieu on the way to My Nhan village in the Thuy Nguyen district. This village is sustained mainly by growing betel in plantations that lend an unusal beauty to the countryside. We cycle off the main road paddling around the village for a while then continue to Hai Phong. We will explore Hai Phong by bicycle. Hai Phong is considered a charming colonial city located close to the sea, with well-preserved French architecture, and boulevards of shady flame trees. We will visit the great temple of Hang Kenh.

Day 4 Cycling from Hai Phong to Cat Ba Island (B, L)

Leaving the hotel we cycle to the ferry at Cai Vieng. Across the river we continue riding through Cat Hai Island. This is not a tourist destination. Here local people specialize in making fish sauce and have a large salt field. Across the island, another ferry takes us to the island of Cat Ba. Cycling the winding road along the seashore through a part of the national park we arrive at the village of Gia Luan.

Day 5 Halong Bay cruise (B, L, D)

After breakfast, transfer to a day boat with private crew and cruise islands where we can explore islands and sea caves by kayak, or just swim in the crystal waters. The kayaks are lightweight and easy to use and in keeping with our safety policies all participants will be issued with water buoyancy vests.
We return to Gia Luan dock by boat and kayak back to Ti Top beach with the boat in support.
Return to the mother boat for the night.
 
Day 6 Ha Long Bay junk cruise & kayaking, Ha Long Bay - Hanoi (B, L)

Rising to the tranquil beauty of the bay, we have time for an early morning dip followed by breakfast. This morning we continue to move around the bay to find more secluded areas to either swim or kayak in. The boat will be near us at all times serving as a back up vessel for those that require it. At around midday we will return to the main harbor before transferring to our waiting vehicle for the three hour journey back to Hanoi 4pm. Drop off at your hotel.
The trip concludes in Hanoi.

8:00: You will be met up by Lotussia Travel guide at your hotel in Hanoi (the Indochina 1 hotel?).

After briefing and a short warming up exercise you will leave Hanoi busy streets cycling out of the city center. The first part of the tour is a bit challenging because of the local traffic.

After about a half hour, you will arrive the Duong riverside where the cycle tour really begins. The name of the Duong River sounds intimately in the heart of every Vietnamese because of the charming and peaceful countryside the river meanders through. The numerous pagodas bordering the Duong River through history have added a major attraction to the Kinh Bac (northern) region.

We will cycle through some small villages, meeting up friendly local countryside farmers before arriving at But Thap Pagoda in time for lunch at a local restaurant (lunch is not included).

The name "But Thap" (Pen Stupa) was given by King Tu Duc in 1876 when, in Kinh Bac, he saw the beautiful stone stupa shaped like a pen at this pagoda, which had previously been known as Ninh Phuc Tu (Pagoda of Peace and Happiness). Visit the But Thap pagoda before continuing on to Dong Ho village.

Dong Ho village is famous for an old and special art form called Dong Ho. This art is attractive to the local and foreign people alike. Coming here visitors watch the artisan’s produce pictures using carved boards painted with various colors of ink.

Once in the village a visit will be made at craftsman Nguyen Dang Che's house who is renowned for his traditional paintings.
Late this afternoon, we will cycle back to Hanoi.

* Duong Lam is 50km to the west of Hanoi. The unique village, which was recognized as a National Cultural - Historic Relic, has houses which are around 200 years old. 8:00 The bus picks you up at hotel then brings you to a village 30 km away from Hanoi. On the way, visit Van Phuc silk village, where the best  silk in Vietnam comes from. Stay here about 30 mins, visit some silk hand-making families, listen to the story of the village.
9:00 Leave Van Phuc for Chuong village. Visit Chuong market, Bell, Floating bridge and a family making conical hat.

 10:00 Leave Chuong village to Chi Le. Short stop before the bridge for the story of the house gate in the middle of the river. Visit Chi Le communal house and then a family making hats.
11:00 Visit Uoc Le village, 2km walking through village, visit the church, communal house with the village's well. Stop in front of the Uoc Le village's gate. Lunch in Uoc Le, in a village's house or on the market. Rest.

Afternoon:
13:00 Heading to Dau pagoda. According to the stele literature built and prepared in Duong Hoa king year the fifth generation, this pagoda was prepared and built in Ly Dynasty (the 11th century). This pagoda is now famous for the two bodies of Buddhist monks from 17th century.
Walk arround the village then at 14:30 leave the village for back Hanoi.

14:00 Visit a brick field, experience the work of a brick field.
14:30 Visit But Thap pagoda, the most famous pagoda in Bac Ninh and one of the most beautiful pagoda in North Vietnam.
15:00 On the way heading back to the farmer's house, visit the village of the first master of Vietnam.
15:30 Back to the farmer's house. Take the bus or car back Hanoi.
15:00 Arrive in Hanoi. End of the tour.

14:00 Leaving the village, riding on a dike to a bridge, visit another village with 90% houses made of laterit stone. Visit a laterit stone query.
14:40 Visit Tay Phuong ancient pagoda. The pagoda located on a hill, over 100 years old, built above a good layer of earth (supposed to have a decisive  influence on a man's fate).
15:30 Visit a brickfield where the workers produces bricks for building manually.
16:00 Take the bus and back Hanoi. 17:00 Arrive in Hanoi. End of the tour.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Hanoi - Xuan Mai - Ninh Binh ( L,D) ( 70 km )

7h00 Am : Pick up at hotel or we may pick up from the airport port. A few hour drive takes us to Xuan Mai before we set off on a half day cycling through the breathtaking mountainous region to Ninh Binh Town (70 km). On our journey there are some opportunities to see ethnic minority people, all friendly and welcoming. Overnight in Ninh Binh.

Day 2: Ninh Binh - Trang An - PhatDiem - Ninh Binh ( B,L,D) ( 90Km )

Heading out of Ninh Binh Town we embark on a boat trip in Trang An, passing through the picturesque landscape of rice fields surrounded by limestone formations with magnificent caves. The afternoon we pedal south to visit Phat Diem church complex (40 km). Overnight in Ninh Binh.

Day 3: Ninh Binh - Hai Phong - Halong (B,L,D) ( 70km )

An early morning start to pedal through the rich farming land of the Red River Delta to Hai Phong. Stop at PhoMinh pagoda and Tran Temple in Nam Dinh. The journey is long but road conditions ameliorated will allow you have more time at every stops. Today is a long day visit farmers at work and local homes. We continue our journey to Ha Long Bay (70 km) by minbus . Views of sailing junks navigating past over 3,000 limestone islands and out crops jutting out of the clear and emerald water of the bay are nothing short of spectacular. Overnight in Ha Long.

Day 4: Ha Long - Cat Ba ( B,L,D)

Am : Breafast at hotel . Ha Long Bay is one of Vietnam 's most impressive scenic sights. After a short transfer from the town, we embark on a cruise out to explore the world natural heritage dotted with some thousands of rock formations. Along the way we will anchor for a leisurely swim in a secluded cove and a seafood lunch. Overnight in Cat Ba.

Day 5: Cat Ba Island ( B,L,D ) ( 40km )

The primeval forest and the tranquil town make Cat Ba Island one of Vietnam 's delightful places. We spend a halfday cycling in Cat Ba, visiting the national park, the central market and the fishing port. The reminder of today is free to relax on a beach. Overnight in Cat Ba.

Day 6: Cat Ba - Hai Phong - Ha Noi (B,L,D) ( 50km )

In the early morning we take public ferry back to Hai Phong. You can ride 15km on CatHai island before landing. Then we continue your bike trip more 30km then take a bus back to Ha Noi ), stopping at Bat Trang Pottery village. Overnight in Ha Noi.

Day 7: Ha Noi - Departure (B)

There is a free time to further explore Ha Noi. The tour ends after your transfer to Noi Bai Airport for departure.

The evening we see a performance of traditional dance followed by local rice liquor. Overnight in Mai Chau at the village.

Day 2: Mai Chau - KimBoi - Hanoi (B, L ) ( 80km )

Am : breakfast . Short cycling around Mai Chau valley. The stunning mountainous scenery and simple lifestyle of the Thai hill tribe people are a highlight of Mai Chau although conditions are very basic. Then continue to transfer by bus to Kimboi Mireral Spring . Biking to Chine town and bus drive to Hanoi.

The  Moc Chau Plateau is 199km from Hanoi along National Highway 6. This plateau is about 1,000m above sea level and around 80km long and 25km wide.  Located slightly under half way between Mai Chau and Son La, Moc Chau is little more than a fairly stretched out, glorified truck stop. The road which enters town from one side does as almost every other visitor to the town tends to and exits the other side shortly afterwards.
The area of the grass-field accounts for more than 14,000ha and is suitable for animal husbandry, tea planting and other agriculture. Moc Chau tea factory was set up here to produce black tea for export and for domestic consumption.
Thousands of pure-bred and crossbred cows from the Netherlands are raised on the Moc Chau state-run farm, established in 1958. They provide fresh milk to Hanoi and to other provinces for producing tinned milk, yoghurt and other milk products.
Moc Chau Plateau is an attractive place for visitors with its cool temperature in the summer and an average temperature of 20oC (68oF).

Day 1: Hanoi – Moc Chau

7.00: Departure from your Hotel. We head west, and arrive for lunch in a beautiful valley filled with rice paddies and surrounded by limestone mountains of the Thai and Muong minority peoples.

After lunch we enter the Moc Chau plateau and stop at Hua Tat. From there we start a beautiful and leisurely mountainside ride along the old colonial road 6. It is a 25-kilometer ride to Moc Chau town, and the journey is at your own pace, usually taking about 3 hours.

We arrive in a large and beautiful Thai village lying at the bottom of a limestone mountain. Time for a shower and some rest before dinner. Overnight in the stilt house of our gracious hosts.

Day 2: Moc Chau Biking

Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner | Accommodation: homestay

After breakfast, we discover the secrets of making the excellent local Olong tea. We then take a ride on a quiet road, up and down along plum orchards, trading 'hellos' with locals along the way. We stop after a few kilometers to walk down to a beautiful valley inhabited by H'mong people. Your awesome guide will set up a picnic lunch here before we get back on our bikes. We keep riding for few kilometers more before veering left on one of the most beautiful roads of the area. The ride ends at our homestay where we can shower and rest before dinner and a good night's sleep.

Day 3: Moc Chau - Hanoi

Meals: breakfast and lunch | Accommodation: N/A

In the morning, we take a walk through the village bordered by rice and tea fields. If time allows, we may also walk to the tea factory of our host on the edge of the village to learn about the processing of the precious leaves. We then leave the area and start on our way back to Hanoi with a stop for lunch at a local restaurant between Moc Chau and Mai Chau. We typically arrive back in Hanoi around 5.30pm. Tour ends at your Hotel.
