Day 1 Arrival day (D)

You be welcomed upon arrival at the airport by our tour guide and driver. Check into hotel: City tour (optional). If your plane lands in the morning, you can enjoy visiting some cultural and historical sites around the city, such as Ngoc Son Temple (Jade Mountain Temple), Temple of Literature and Water Puppet Show or cyclo ride around the Old Quarter. Welcome dinner in fine Vietnamese cuisine restaurant.
Overnight in hotel.






 Day 2 Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Hanoi - Dong Trieu village (B, L, D)

Depart hotel at 8am. Before leaving Hanoi we will visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum complex, including mausoleum, president palace, former home of HCM, and the One Pillar Pagoda. Afterwards we will head northeast on along Highway One, through the lush region of the Red River Delta. After two hours bus ride, we arrive at Dong Trieu village. There we will be hosted by local people with lunch and dinner, staying overnight in their comfortable home. After lunch and a short rest, we will get on our bikes to enjoy peddling slowly from village to village, across rice paddies and along the river and back to Dong Trieu. There will plenty of time for chatting with locals, and seeing how the rice is being cultivated.

Day 3 Cycling from Dong Trieu to Hai Phong (B, L, D)

After fare well our hosts, we continue cycling along a sealed road towards Hai Phong. We use the ferry at Ben Trieu on the way to My Nhan village in the Thuy Nguyen district. This village is sustained mainly by growing betel in plantations that lend an unusal beauty to the countryside. We cycle off the main road paddling around the village for a while then continue to Hai Phong. We will explore Hai Phong by bicycle. Hai Phong is considered a charming colonial city located close to the sea, with well-preserved French architecture, and boulevards of shady flame trees. We will visit the great temple of Hang Kenh.

Day 4 Cycling from Hai Phong to Cat Ba Island (B, L)

Leaving the hotel we cycle to the ferry at Cai Vieng. Across the river we continue riding through Cat Hai Island. This is not a tourist destination. Here local people specialize in making fish sauce and have a large salt field. Across the island, another ferry takes us to the island of Cat Ba. Cycling the winding road along the seashore through a part of the national park we arrive at the village of Gia Luan.

Day 5 Halong Bay cruise (B, L, D)

Buffet breakfast on boat
After breakfast, transfer to a day boat with private crew and cruise islands where we can explore islands and sea caves by kayak, or just swim in the crystal waters. The kayaks are lightweight and easy to use and in keeping with our safety policies all participants will be issued with water buoyancy vests.
We return to Gia Luan dock by boat and kayak back to Ti Top beach with the boat in support.
Return to the mother boat for the night.
 
Day 6 Ha Long Bay junk cruise & kayaking, Ha Long Bay - Hanoi (B, L)

Rising to the tranquil beauty of the bay, we have time for an early morning dip followed by breakfast. This morning we continue to move around the bay to find more secluded areas to either swim or kayak in. The boat will be near us at all times serving as a back up vessel for those that require it. At around midday we will return to the main harbor before transferring to our waiting vehicle for the three hour journey back to Hanoi 4pm. Drop off at your hotel.
The trip concludes in Hanoi.

Bat Trang - Duyen Thai - Quat Dong - Chuong villages
This bycicle tour begin from Hanoi at 07h00 am and ride to Bat Trang where we can see firsthand the ancient art of ceramic making at a workshop.

 We will learn how to make a clay product in one of many of the families producing these fine works of art which have been doing so for at least 400 years. We then go in to an art tea shop where maintain hundred ancient products to enjoy our picnic lunch. From Bat Trang we continue along the dyke cross the red river by a little ferry to Van Phuc dock in Hanoi side and head south to the village of Duyen Thai, which specializes in making lacquered bamboo products. Visit this village and learn how to make many kind of lacquer arts.
Afterward, we head to the embroidery village of Quat Dong to visit some other families workshop. In times past many of the Vietnamese Emperors and courtiers had their elaborate costumes created here. Nowadays the village makes most of the material that is sold on Hanoi famous Hang Gai Street. From Quat Dong embroidery village we make the return bus journey to Hanoi where we should arrive no later than 06h00 pm.

8:00: You will be met up by Lotussia Travel guide at your hotel in Hanoi (the Indochina 1 hotel?).




After briefing and a short warming up exercise you will leave Hanoi busy streets cycling out of the city center. The first part of the tour is a bit challenging because of the local traffic.

After about a half hour, you will arrive the Duong riverside where the cycle tour really begins. The name of the Duong River sounds intimately in the heart of every Vietnamese because of the charming and peaceful countryside the river meanders through. The numerous pagodas bordering the Duong River through history have added a major attraction to the Kinh Bac (northern) region.

We will cycle through some small villages, meeting up friendly local countryside farmers before arriving at But Thap Pagoda in time for lunch at a local restaurant (lunch is not included).

The name "But Thap" (Pen Stupa) was given by King Tu Duc in 1876 when, in Kinh Bac, he saw the beautiful stone stupa shaped like a pen at this pagoda, which had previously been known as Ninh Phuc Tu (Pagoda of Peace and Happiness). Visit the But Thap pagoda before continuing on to Dong Ho village.

Dong Ho village is famous for an old and special art form called Dong Ho. This art is attractive to the local and foreign people alike. Coming here visitors watch the artisan’s produce pictures using carved boards painted with various colors of ink.

Once in the village a visit will be made at craftsman Nguyen Dang Che's house who is renowned for his traditional paintings.
Late this afternoon, we will cycle back to Hanoi.

* Duong Lam is 50km to the west of Hanoi. The unique village, which was recognized as a National Cultural - Historic Relic, has houses which are around 200 years old. Of the nine hamlets within Duong Lam Village, Dong Sang and Mong Phu have maintained the most ancient houses: 441 and 350, respectively, among the total 956 traditional houses. The old Duong Lam Village is famous for its homes made of laetrile, a type of red soil. Most of these houses have their own courtyards surrounded by a laetrile wall.

 AM: Back to the origins
You start the day from your hotel at 08.00am and travel west of Hanoi to visit Duong Lam village, a purely agricultural village of the Northern Red River delta where still preserve many hundred-year-old houses. It will be your unique experience as you walk along tiny ancient alleys; visit Mong Phu temple in Mong Phu hamlet - the only hamlet whose original village entrance gate remains intact, dedicated to national heroes. Have some talks with the locals in their ancient houses by visiting the ancient houses. Enjoin your special lunch with Vietnamese foods in an ancient house.

PM: Understand your spiritual life
After resting, we continue driving to visit Mia Pagoda (other hamlet in Duong Lam village), is built in 15 th century and admire 287 statues of all sizes, among with are famous sculpture such as the statue of Buddha in the Himalayas and the statues of the Eight Vajra Deities. Then visit Ngo Quyen temple and Phung Hung temple, places dedicated to two national heroes Ngo Quyen and Phung Hung.
Driving back hanoi. Tour finishes at about 5h00 PM.

8:00 The bus picks you up at hotel then brings you to a village 30 km away from Hanoi. On the way, visit Van Phuc silk village, where the best  silk in Vietnam comes from. Stay here about 30 mins, visit some silk hand-making families, listen to the story of the village.
9:00 Leave Van Phuc for Chuong village. Visit Chuong market, Bell, Floating bridge and a family making conical hat.


 10:00 Leave Chuong village to Chi Le. Short stop before the bridge for the story of the house gate in the middle of the river. Visit Chi Le communal house and then a family making hats.
11:00 Visit Uoc Le village, 2km walking through village, visit the church, communal house with the village's well. Stop in front of the Uoc Le village's gate. Lunch in Uoc Le, in a village's house or on the market. Rest.

Afternoon:
13:00 Heading to Dau pagoda. According to the stele literature built and prepared in Duong Hoa king year the fifth generation, this pagoda was prepared and built in Ly Dynasty (the 11th century). This pagoda is now famous for the two bodies of Buddhist monks from 17th century.
Walk arround the village then at 14:30 leave the village for back Hanoi.
16:00 Arrive in Hanoi. End of the tour.

8:45 Reach the farmer house, taking bike, starting to ride to Keo pagoda, a 1000 year old pagoda. Visit Keo pagoda and village temle with a town morning market.
9:45 Leave town for a ride on the dike of Duong river. Here you get a beautiful view with rice paddies on the right side and maize field on the left side. You will have chance to experience the other life on the Dike Expanding Land.
10:00 Visit a small village on the dike expanding land with its newly restored communal house. Riding through a big maize field.
10:30 Stop at a institution complex on the way back to lunch. The complex is very characristical for the region. A pagoda, a temple, and a communal house were built in one ground. You have a little tea pause and a little chat with the bronze of the pagoda.
11:30 Back to the farmer house for lunch and rest.

Afternoon:
13:00 Start riding again. Visit a handicraft village on the dike expanding land, where the silk worm are bred, raised in order to produce the material for silk. Visit a mullbery field and a village river ferry. Possibility of riding a motor boat to another side of the river.
14:00 Visit a brick field, experience the work of a brick field.
14:30 Visit But Thap pagoda, the most famous pagoda in Bac Ninh and one of the most beautiful pagoda in North Vietnam.
15:00 On the way heading back to the farmer's house, visit the village of the first master of Vietnam.
15:30 Back to the farmer's house. Take the bus or car back Hanoi.
15:00 Arrive in Hanoi. End of the tour.
